Project Manager
Direct/Contract
The project manager must have experience in designing and leading work groups in the creation of layouts for various products such as print and online newspaper advertising. The project manager will have detailed understanding of the processes involved in preparing materials for publishing through the use of desktop publishing systems and design tools. A hands-on working knowledge of the processes involved in design, copy fitting, layout and color separation in the preparation of multiple types of materials is critical. He or she needs to have prior experience as an analyst in consulting type engagements, such as process definition and analysis.
Position Responsibilities and Essential Duties: (other duties may be assigned)
- Accompany and support the sales force in the presentation of effective design and graphic/document creation services to prospective clients
- Provide business process analysis and consulting in layout, design, printing process flow and online web output
- Provide team leadership and training as required to meet internal and client needs
- Manage implementation of new client accounts
- Manage implementation of projects for existing client accounts
- Gather client requirements for account and/or new service implementation
- Provide development and testing of new services
- Develop client training programs and conduct
- Pre-test order process, content and complexity before production involvement
- Participate in the set-up and configuration of the Affinity Express-hosted service bureau to meet the client requirements
- Possess proficiency in PC and MAC
- Answer technical desktop publishing questions
- Answer business/operational questions pertaining to the overall business flow of the advertising production process
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in communications, business administration, graphic arts, advertising, interactive media or related field
- Ability to translate and mentor others in the translation of ideas into measurable results
- Demonstrated working knowledge of layout, graphic/interactive design and printing processes
- Experience the newspaper and interactive media market
- Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills, team-building skills, as well as creative and artistic presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide consultative direction to improve operations based on experience in the field and analysis of current operations and business procedures
- Organized attitude with strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple implementations simultaneously
- A history of being a senior-level creative lead and/or business manager in the creative services and media document creation field with five-plus years of related experience
- Current on U.S. industry trends, events and news
- Project management skills and discipline of managing client on-boarding and contracts
